Jammu, Jul 22
A fresh batch of 727 pilgrims, including 137 women, 14 children and 100 Sadhus, today left for Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir amid tight security cover, an official spokesman said.
A caravan of 24 vehicles, including 20 State Road Transport Corporation buses, a private bus, and three LMVs left the Yatri Bhawan here at 0510 hrs, the spokesman said.
Despite heavy rains since last night, the 300-kms-long Jammu-Srinagar national highway NH-1A remained through for vehicular movement. It was raining heavily but there was landslide on national highway this time. The yatra convoy has proceeded smoothly from Jammu, the Police Control Room said.
