| Rakh-i-Arth | | 6000 plots to be developed, Rs. 1.93 crore development charges paid: Dy CM | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JULY 22: Work on the vision plan for decongestion of existing commercial areas of Srinagar city and to develop new residential and business centres around the peripheral boundaries of the city is already going on at an accelerated pace, said Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand. He said this while taking inspection during his day long tour to different residential and commercial location being developed by Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) and Lake and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA). He was accompanied by Vice-Chairman of (SDA), Baseer Khan, senior functionaries and engineers of SDA and LAWDA. Tara Chand inspected the site at Srinagar Railway Station, Nowgam where railhead complex is being developed by SDA. Taking stock of the pace of work on the new business district being developed, he said that, the site needs to be developed on the pattern of Bahu Plaza at Railhead Complex Jammu, having fully developed modern facilities like Hotel, Craft Bazar, Parking spaces etc. He was informed that already 1020 kanals of land has been notified and work on its development would be started soon. He while inspecting the Rakh-i-Arth Housing Colony for Dal dwellers said that the rehabilitation colony is a prestigious project envisaged for the families being resettled from Dal. He directed the concerned authorities to immediately lay out plots on the filled area, so that the same could be handed over to the Dal dwellers at the earliest. In the phase-I of Rakh-i-Arth colony 6000 plots would be developed and by ending September this year 500 families would be shifted to the colony. The concerned authorities informed that 108 cultivators have already been paid Rs.1.93 crores as development charges. Tara Chand also inspected the Rakh-Gund Akasha and discussed on site the vision document of establishing new township. Detailed deliberation was held on various issues related to the upcoming township. The township once developed will be a satellite township Srinagar having all ultra modern facilities, he added. Later on while discussing the problems of congestion in Srinagar city, instructions were issued to SDA for upgradation of existing Parking lots of most modern standards so as to meet challenges of growing traffic and to address the burgeoning traffic issues. Deputy Chief Minister also directed the concerned authorities to take up construction of multilevel parking lots on those tracks of land which have been handed over to SDA.
