| Akhoon reviews despatch process of essentials to Ladakh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JULY 23: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Qamar Ali Akhoon today in a meeting reviewed stock and supply of food grains and other essential commodities for Ladakh region. Minister sought details of dispatches made for Leh and Kargil districts. The meeting was informed that so far 57730 quintals of rice, 29000 of quintals of wheat/atta and 2300 quintals of sugar has been despatched to both the districts and ferrying of food grains and other daily items is going on. It was also said in the meeting that 28000 quintals of rice have been dumped for winter stocking from Srinagar to the both the districts. The meeting was further told that for August 8600 quintals of rice have been released for the twin districts of Leh and Kargil. Minister also took stock of fuels, cooking gas and kerosene in the region. He asked the officers to ensure full despatch to these districts in time and ensure full winter dumping for the region. Responding to the demands of Legislators and Councillors of Ladakh Hill Development Council (LHDC) the minister said that efforts would be made to increase the allocations for the regions, as per the demands. The meeting was also attended by MLA Nobra, T. Namgyal, Secretary, CAPD K. B. Jandial, Executive Councillor Health and CAPD, LHDC, Tsering Augchuk, Executive Councillor Forest, Mohammad Khan.
