| Geelani seeks explanation on Indo-Pak terror mechanism | | | .
New Delhi, Sep 27 Peeved at the joint mechanism between India and Pakistan to tackle terrorism, hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has sent a delegation to the Pakistani mission here to seek an "explanation" about the agreement and whether there was any U-turn by Islamabad in its Kashmir policy.
The chief of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat -- who was given the "cold shoulder" by the US and its allies that have avoided contacts with him -- sent Ghulam Nabi Sumji of Muslim Conference, Mohammed Shafi Lone of Employees Forum and Saleem Zargar of Kashmir Mass Movement to meet officials at the Pakistan High Commission here.
In their recent meeting with Pakistani Deputy High Commissioner Afra Siab, the delegation apprised him about Geelani's concerns about the agreement arrived at after the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf at Havana.
The delegation claimed it had been informed by Siab that there was no U-turn in Pakistan's Kashmir policy and that the agreement between India and Pakistan was about terrorism in the hinterland, including Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and not in Kashmir.
"We were conveyed this in very clear terms by the Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan," said Sumji about the meeting that was held last weekend. |
