| Bukhari demands establishment of tribal university in Poonch | | Supports central university for Jammu | |
Early Times Report Jammu, July 22: Demanding the establishment of the tribal university in Poonch distt which always remain neglected by both state and central govt, Dr. Mumtaz Bukhari, senior PDP leader and Patron S.J.A.S welfare society (Syed Jamait Ali Shah), said that by sanctioning the tribal university in Poonch, will help in bringing the distt, at the national level and enhancing the living standard of the people of the area. This he stated, while addressing the media persons in Jammu. He further said that Poonch is socially, economically and educationally backward and majority of tribes lives in twin border distts, so there should be no question of establishing the university elsewhere in the state and added that there should be equal share for pahari speaking people also. Showing grave concern over the irregular cuts of electricity and shabby conditions of roads in distt, also raised question mark on the functioning of the state govt. Bhukhari also supports self rule formula as Autonomy of NC has been rejected by previous NDA govt. He also supported peaceful co-operation and holding talks with Pakistan for permanent peace in the region. Parvaiz Mughal, president of the S.J.A.S welfare society and women president, PDP, has appealed to the chief minister and state human rights commission to look into the grave human rights violations in the state which has caused a great resentment in the minds of the people. She also condemned the tragic Shopian incident. Quoting the views, the secretary of the society, Irfan Qureshi besides demanding a degree college for Surankote, has also appealed to state govt for establishing the central university in Jammu and I.I.M (Indian Institute of management) in Kashmir, as already agreed by previous coalition govt. Prominent others who were present on the occasion include Shahid Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed Zargar, Zamir Ahmed and others.
