| work hampers in offices across J&k due to strike by EJAC | | | Early times Report Jammu, July 22: Normal work in government offices remained paralyzed on the first day of two days strike across Jammu and Kashmir over the non implementation of sixth pay commission. The two day strike call was announced by Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) the coordination of all employees Associations. The employees across the state observe the strike and held protest demonstrations outside all district head quarters while the major rallies were seen in Srinagar and Jammu districts. Meanwhile , to keep stress upon the State government for seeking implementation of 6th Pay Commission report, Employees Joint Action Committee representing all the state government departments of Udhampur district observed complete strike here today on the first day of three days call given by Employees association . Work remained totally paralyzed in all the offices due to strike as employees suspended there work in protest on the call given by EJAC in view of the poor response and delaying tactics of the Government regarding implementation of Sixth pay commission report , Addressing employees union leaders demanded enhancement of house rent allowance from five percent two twenty percent , removal of clerks pay anomalies ,increasing retirement age of the employees from 58 to 60 years and encashment of arrear from January 2006 . They threatened to take some harsh steps if Government ignores their demand. The EJAC leaders said that Centre and many states have already implemented the pay panel report but J&K state have not done justice with its employees so far. They urged the state Governor to take a decision in this regard and do justice with over five lakh employees of the State. Though the strike affected work in government offices in Jammu, Udhampur and Kathua districts of Jammu province and Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla and Budgam, partial affect was seen in Ramban, Kishtwar and border district of Rajouri and Poonch of Jammu division and Shopian, Kulgam, Ganderbal areas of Kashmir division, Sources informed “We were assured by the finance minister of full implementation of the sixth pay commission”, an employee and member of EJAC told . Employees from all departments assembled at Municipal Park and marched to press club to register their resentment before the media. Sources said that EJAC is planning to extend the two day token strike if government will not concede the demand of the employees.In Jammu hundreds of government employees observe strike and protest outside their offices; however a protest rally was organized which marched through the streets to press their demands. Joint Action Committee had appealed all the employees to observe 2 days token strike against non implementation of sixth pay commission in the state of Jammu and Kashmir despite assurances from the government.
