Chenab, Sindh share Football titles

JAMMU, July 22: Chenab House in senior group and Sindh House in junior category emerged winners in Football in the Annual Inter-House Competitions of Sainik School Nagrota, near here today.
In senior category, Chenab secured maximum points out of a win and a draw in the league competition to clinch the winners’ trophy. Sindh House remained runners-up.
In the junior group, Sindh House trounced Jehlum House 4-1 in their third and last league tie today to claim the title.
Jatin Parihar was adjudged best goal-keeper of the tournament while Mohd Ali emerged as best scorer and the trophy for promising player of the year went to Jigmet Namgyal in senior group.
In junior category, Devraj was best scorer and Amit Suman was declared best goal-keeper while promising player of the year trophy was awarded to Arif Hussain.
Principal of Sainik School Nagrota, Group Captain Ajay Kumar applauded the participating teams and congratulated the winners and those who received individual prizes for their performance.
He laid stress on improving the standard of the game in the school so as to give promising players a chance to represent the state and the country also.
Lt. Col. Krishan Yadav, Headmaster, Major Sunil Pandita, Senior Master, Rakesh Shrivastav, football incharges were among those prominent present.
Meanwhile, Sainik School Nagrota will also be sending comprehensive sports teams to Sainik School Kunjpura (Haryana) to participate in North Zone Inter-Sainik School Championships starting from August seven.
The teams taking part include Basketball, Football (under14) and (under 16), Vollyball, Hockey, and co-curricular activities.
The detailed (League) results: Seniors: Chenab House bt Sindh House 2-0; Chenab draw Jehlum House 3-3; Sindh House bt Jehlum 4-0. Juniors: Sindh House bt Jehlum House 4-1; Chenab held Jehlum to a 1-1 draw; Chenab House held Sindh House to a goaless draw.
