JAMMU, JULY 22 (INFO)- Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal convened a meeting to review the implementation of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) here today.
The Divisional Commissioner was apprised of the targets achieved by the various implementing agencies like Khadi & Village Industries Corporation (KVIC), State Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) and District Industries Centres (DICs) upto June 2009. He was also given a resume of the targets being allocated to these agencies for the year 2009-10.
Dr. Kotwal stressed on the need for implementing this ambitious scheme effectively making its procedure less cumbersome for the applicants. He said that proper and timely action on the submitted proposals can instill confidence among prospective entrepreneurs to avail the benefits of the schemes and help generate employment in the State.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the officer to ensure that time gap between the project appraisal and release of subsidy should be minimized. He added that there should be better coordination between the implementing agencies and banks so that the process of disbursement of funds is expedited.
He also asked them to ensure proper vigil in identification of beneficiaries, checking the viability of projects and providing training in entrepreneurship development so that the genuine projects can be promoted.
State Director, KVIC gave details of beneficiaries indicating the amount of subsidy allotted, employment generated and projects setup under the scheme.
The Divisional Commissioner was informed that out of 134 cases, the DIC has sanctioned 101 cases in which disbursement of six cases has been made. KVIC has sanctioned 114 cases and funding has been made in five cases. KVIB has sanctioned 496 cases, of which 104 cases stands released.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr. T. Angchok, CEO KVIB, Dr. A. Rashid, Director I and C Mr. B. S. Dua, State Director, KVIC Mr. B. R. Chauhan, Deputy Director Industries Mr. G. L. Sharma and Nodal Officer, PMEGP KVIC were present in the meeting.
