Protestors led by President Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) Pt. R. K Bhat displayed placards and amidst chanting slogans ‘down with discrimination’, ‘we want justice’ and ‘fight for right’travelled through various bazars. YAIKS established ten years back got actively involved with highlighting the issues pertaining to the KP community of which two months long hunger strike for bifurcation of ration cards concluded successfully last year in which about 3500 families were benefited. Bhat while addressing protestors revealed that about 20000 thousand KP government employees retired for the last twenty years and not even a single appointment was given to KP youth for the last two decades. He said as per the PM’s announcement 6000 youths are to be employed in government jobs besides 9000 self help ventures are to be allotted to the youths of the community, which is constitutional, legal and ethinical right of the youths, added Bhat. He appealed protestors that they should wait till the budget session concludes as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather has extended full assurances for the addressing of the legitimate demand. Bhat while expressing faith and hope upon both the leaders said that both the leaders have assured that matter will be discussed during the session and should be finalized. It is pertinent to mention that YAIKS is desperate for getting implemented PM’s employment package of which they are protesting almost every month. Pursuing the same on 5th July YAIKS submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at his Srinagar residence. When asked what was the main motive of organizing the event even after the assurances by Chief Minister, Bhat said that it was all about to give fresh reminder to Chief Minister and Finance Minister as budget session is likely to commence three days later. Appealing Chief Minister to extend helping hand to future generation of the community by implementing PM’s package, one of the protestors said that in any case if the justice is denied or delayed will help the separatists to rule the roast. He said it is ripe time when government should take steps to develop secular environment by providing opportunities to KP’s youth. Another protestor said that one fails to understand that why state government is ignoring KP youth even after the PM’s announcement as at least one complete year has passed and not a single aspirant has been provided a government job. He said that most of the youths have attained over age stage for which seven years age relaxation has been also announced by the government. By making dilly-delay tactics not only state government but also centre government is being exposed for making mockery of KP community by toying with their sentiments, said a protestor. Meanwhile, half naked protest was also led by Bal Krishen Bhat, Sunil Kaul, Ajay Safaya, Manoj Handoo and J. L Pandita.
