| Plebiscite, Autonomy, Self Rule slogans to mislead innocent people: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JULY 23: BJP stand on Jammu and Kashmir has been crystal clear from the day one that the State is an integral part of India and it should be defended at all costs. But it was unfortunate that certain dubious characters are trying to confuse the issue of cross border terror with the attempts for peace with the neighbouring Pakistan by misquoting the facts. Addressing gatherings of party activists at Bhagwati Nagar and other places in Jammu West Assembly constituency, the former Union Minister and leader of the Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta strongly indicted those who are getting eager to resume composite dialogue with Pakistan by separating the issue of cross border terror and linking it with the peace process initiated by the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee during his tenure. He recalled that during the NDA regime the Pak-Military ruler, General Musharraf, was packed back at Agra summit when he tried to link the terror with so-called Kashmir problem and justified the armed militancy. We do want peace with Pakistan but this cannot be possible at the cost of country’s integrity and sovereignty, Prof. Gupta added and reminded that the former Prime Minster, Atal Behari Vajpayee had extended the hand of friendship to Pakistan with the statement that stated that we can change friends but not the neighbours. Hence, they should learn to live like friends. Prof. Gupta also recalled that dialogue for peace with Pakistan was started only after the President, Gen. Musharraf had publicly announced that no soil under control of Pakistan would be allowed for cross border terrorism against India including Kashmir. Prof. Gupta made it clear that the BJP had always been steadfast in its approach that peace process and cross border terror cannot go together but now the New Delhi is confusing the issue by de-linking it from terror. The BJP leader charged the Congress and its allies including the PDP and National Conference, that they were never clear and sincere in their utterances. They had always been misleading the innocent people by raising the slogans of Plebiscite, Autonomy and Self Rule. All these slogans are bound to flop and the nationalists of the country would not allow succeeding any such nefarious designs. Those who accompanied him also included Sunita Kapai Corporator, Parmood Kapai, Dr. Rajinder Tikoo, Chander Mohan Gupta, O N Bhat, P A Koul and others.
