| Paharies for Bukhari’s appointment as VC Board | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 23: Already annoyed with Congress and National Conference over non-induction of popular Pahari leaders in the cabinet, Pahari organizations in the Rajouri and Poonch demanded appointment of former MLA and Senior NC leader as Vice Chairman of J&K State Pahari Advisory Board. Expressing unhappiness with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, various Pahari organizations in a joint meeting held at Rajouri have expressed dissatisfaction over cabinet expansion by demanding more berths for Pahari legislators. In a meeting chaired by M A Sagar, Provincial President Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum, J&K Pahari Peoples Movement, Pir-Panjal Development Council and Pahari Students Movement have chalked out a plan for future course of action. Speakers highlighted the representation ration of Pahari community in the assembly and said that a total of 11 Pahari legislators were elected by the people and sent to assembly in the last held assembly election. They said that there is hope among Pahari community that their demands could be highlighted and mitigated by these legislators. Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Khan, Chief Executive of Pahari Peoples movement said that the community has not been given due share in the cabinet. “We demand induction of more two Pahari legislators in the cabinet”, he said adding that Poonch and Rajouri have more than 60 percent population of Paharies and hey deserved one more minister from Rajouri and one Pahari leader from Kashmir Valley. They said that Kafil-ul- Rehman, an NC legislator could be inducted into council of ministers from Valley and Thakur Rachpal Singh or Ajaz Jan are the options from this region. Meanwhile Pahari organizations have jointly suggested the government to appoint Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari as Vice Chairman of J&K State Pahari Advisory Board. They threatened that if he is not appointed on the post, all the Pahari organizations will come to the streets and hold protest demonstration. Pahari organizations in their joint meeting decided to build pressure on government and forced them to appoint Bukhari as VC. They pledge to fight for their only cause of scheduled tribe status. Speakers said that Pahari community is demanding ST status for the last many decades and now they have pined their hopes on the present legislators and parliamentarians. They said that if these legislators and parliamentarians will not respect the sentiments of this community they will be taught lesson in the coming elections. Others who spoke on the occasion included Vijay Kochhar, Kursheed Janam, Tariq Manhas, Waseem Mirza, Shakeel Mir Babu Hussain Khan, Abdul Wahid Khan, Raja Shahid Mughal, Saleem Mughal , Ayas Mughal, Shahnawaz Mughal, Netar Singh, Lalit Mahajan, Susheel Sharma & Advocate Rajinder Mehta.
