Agencies New Delhi July 25- The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party candidates who unsuccessfully contested the 2008 Assembly elections from Kashmir Valley today went on token hunger strike at Jantar Mantar to protest against the discriminatory attitude towards them by the state government in the matter of providing security cover to them. Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman of the party was also present on the occasion. Soon after reaching the Union capital from Srinagar the valley based leaders of the party went on hunger strike outside the Parliament. Those who joined hunger strike included Syed Mohammed Rafiq Shah, Member, Legislative Council, J&K and General Secretary, JKNPP, Mohammed Yusuf Ganai, Vice President, .Farooq Ahmed Dar, Provincial President, Kashmir, Abdul Rashid Ganie, District President, Gandherbal, Abdul Rashid Parra, District President, Budgam, Kashmir,. Maqbool Malik, Provincial Secretary, Kashmir, Mohammed Yaqoob Dunoo, District President, Srinagar, Manzoor Ahmed Wani, President, District Anantnag, Ali Mohammed Dar, District President, Baramulla, Jehangir Khan, District President, Kupwara, Dr. Mohammed Iqbal Wani, General Secretary, Kashmir Province and Abdul Gani Dar, District General Secretary, Kashmir Prof. Bhim Singh addressing the party leaders alleged that the government has all together withdrawn security cover to all those party leaders who contested elections against the ruling National Conference candidates from the valley. He said that the party is launching state wide protest against the ruling alliance for its criminal silence over providing security cover to the party leaders. He said all the ruling party leaders both the winning and the loosing candidates have been provided security cover while those of the JKNPP have been deprived of this facility thus risking their life. He sought Prime Minister’s intervention in the matter so that the lives of the secular and nationalist political leaders could be saved. He further said that the state government was out to eliminate the JKNPP leaders as is evident from the fact that the directions from the Union Home Ministry for providing security cover to the nationalist leaders have been altogether ignored by the ruling alliance
