Doctors deputation call on Chib, Sham, discuss problems

JAMMU, JULY 25 –Assuring to remove the pay anomalies in the 6th Pay Commission soon after the Budget Session of the Legislature Assembly is over, the Ministers for Medical Education, Mr. R.S.Chib and Minister for Health, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma asked the medical fraternity to cooperate as the government is well aware of their grievances and keen to find way-out.
This has been stated by the Ministers during an interactive meeting with the doctors last evening.

The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and various issues/problems being faced by the medical fraternity were discussed in detail. Doctors of both the departments projected their demands like removing of anomalies caused due to the implementation of 6th Pay Commission in the State. They pleaded that government has made some alteration in the pay structure of doctors which has been recommended by the Central Pay Commission and State Committee headed by the Financial Commission, Finance, Mr. S.L.Bhat and demanded emoluments at par to their counterparts in Central Government.

Doctors pleaded that their services cannot be compared with other categories as they have to work in extra-ordinary conditions thus deserve special treatment besides they also demanded change in their pay structure.

The Ministers said that Government is aware about their problems and its approach is very realistic. Mr. Chib said that he has already discussed the matter with the Finance Minister, Mr. A.R.Rather a few days back and hoped that the issues raised will be settled in the best interest of the doctors after the budget session of State Legislature.

The Ministers asked the doctors to wait till their demands are fully studied by the Government and decision taken accordingly. They advised them to discharge their duties with dedication land commitment and assured that the Government will take appropriate steps to improve their working conditions and redress the anomalies in their pay structure.

Mr. Sham Lal Sharma suggested for holding another meeting involving the doctors of Kashmir division also. He said that everything can be settled through negotiations and hoped that present issues confronted by the doctors will also be resolved amicably. He appreciated that the doctors are working in strained conditions and serving the people with full of their ability. He said that government has already initiated steps to improve their working conditions especially in the rural areas.

Among others, the meeting was attended Principal GMC, Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal Government Dental College, Dr. M.R.Sharma, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Jasbir Singh, Administrator GMC, Dr. Rakesh Khajuria, Members of Medical Teachers Association, GMC, Jammu, JDA Association, Health Department’s Doctors Association including, Dr. Tariq Azad, Dr. S.K.Bali, Dr. Bhupesh Khajuria.
