| 1000 institutions to be connected with EDUSAT networking shortly | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JULY 25 With the introduction of Education Satellite (EDUSAT) in institutions, the educational process will be revolutionized and this will go a long way in redressing the problem of shortage of expertise in various disciplines. This was stated by Minister for Education, Mr Abdul Gani Mailk while reviewing the progress in commissioning and installation of satellite interaction terminals (SITs) in Jammu Hub of the “EDUSAT Networking” programme at Government Women College, Gandhinagar Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Malik lauded the role of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for extending the satellite interaction terminals (SIT’s) and Receive Only Terminals (ROTs) at various institutions under EDUSAT programme and providing the technical expertise in training the instructors to deliver the lecturer on video conferencing which can reach to every nook and corner of the state thus eliminating the rural-urban gap in the education and making it equidistant from all.. Careful handling of the schemes is required to reap the maximum benefits of the latest developments in this field and to familiarise the rural students with the cyber technology, he added and said that the need of the hour is to train our own manpower to handle and run these interactions smoothly. He also asked the Director Colleges and the Principals to gear up the process of recruitment for filling up the posts of under the project for installing the systems and take care of the equipments being provided us free of cost. Director Colleges, Dr N D Wani, Director School Education, Jammu Mrs Zahida Khan, Head EDUSAT Networking Jammu & Kashmir, Mr B M Darzi, Incharge Jammu Hub of EDUSAT Mrs Hemla Aggarwal, Principal MAM College, Dr Billoria, Principal Women College Gandhinagar, Mrs Nalani Kohli and Principals of all the city colleges were present on the occasion. Head EDUSAT, Jammu, Mr B M Darzi gave a detailed presentation of the activities ISRO in installing the ROTs, SITs in the state.
