| Declare Jammu, Srinagar as B-1 cities: Shastri | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 26: National Mazdoor Conference, (NMC) president, Subash Shastri has urged upon the union home minister to introduce a bill in the current budget session of parliament for declaring Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 cities. Addressing NMC activists here today, he pleaded that both the capital cities of the state have acquired requisite status as per all parameters to be given as B-1 status. He said that giving B-1 status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructures and modernizing civic amenities of these fast expanding cities. He said since cost of living also increased in Srinagar and Jammu, it will benefit salaries class with increasing HRA and CCA. Pleading the cause of clerical cadre of the state govt. Shastri also appealed the chief minister’s Omar Abdullah to intervene personally to redress the genuine demand of the clerical staff and ensure that all the anomalies in the SRO-93 are removed so that all sections of the salaried class are benefited optimally from the implementation of 6th pay commission in Jammu and Kashmir. He demanded that the areas on account of 6th pay commission implementation be released in two installments. Pleading the cause of daily rated workers, casual labourers, adhoc, consolidated and contractual employees, Shastri emphasized for their time bound regularization. Several resolutions were adopted at the rally and early release of pending installment of 6% D.A in favour of state govt. employees and pensioners. Among those who also addressed the rally included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Kasturi Lal, Chaman Lal Bhagat, Sukh Dev Singh, Surinder Kumar, Dalip Bhagat, Vijay Bhagat and Barkat Ram etc.
