New Delhi, July 26- A dozen Panthers Party office bearers from Kashmir Valley including District Presidents continued their hunger strike for second day in front of Parliament at Jantar Mantar here today demanding immediate dismissal of NC-Congress government in J&K and restoration of security of the Party office bearers and district presidents whose security was withdrawn by the Chief Minister to punish them for contesting election against NC candidates in the Valley.
Those who are sitting on hunger strike included Syed Rafiq Shah, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Dr. Iqbal Wani, Mohammed. Yusuf Ganai, Mohammed Maqbool Malik, Mohammed Yaqoob Dunoo, Manzoor Ahmed Wani, Abdul Rashid Parra, Abdul Rashid Ganai, Ali Mohammed Dar and Jehangir Khan.
Party supremo Prof. Bhim Singh while talking to media persons at Jantar Mantar accused NC-Congress government for trying to liquidate the Panthers Party leaders particularly in the Valley to silence the voice of dissent in Kashmir. He said that National Conference leaders have been treating Panthers Party leaders, particularly those who contested election against NC candidates, as enemies and that’s why security of Panthers Party’s senior leaders including district presidents and provincial president was withdrawn to teach them a lesson for raising a voice in favour of the National Flag.
Prof Singh said that the former provincial president of the Panthers Party, Mohammed Ramzan Bangi, former district president of Anantnag, Najar and several others were blasted by the militants only as no security was provided to them. He said that militancy today is receiving patronage from the ruling party leaders and they are targeting the opposition leaders who are fighting for justice and equity of the common man in the state.
Prof Singh expressed shock that the administration in J&K refused to carry out the direction of the Union Home Ministry which had clearly directed the state authorities to provide adequate security to the Panthers Party leaders and activists in J&K. He said that over 500 so-called political activists who have been shown as political workers of National Conference, Congress, BJP and other non-existent groups have been provided with free gypsies with fuel and police drivers in J&K by the administration. The Union Home Ministry has been footing the bills of these persons. He demanded enquiry about the misuse of Central money and forces by the state government. He said Rs.50 crores are spent by the Central government every month in the name of security cover for the relations, even domestics and personal use of the activists of the ruling parties.
He accused state government for creating a situation so that no opposition political parties could mobilize the public in the Valley.
Prof. Singh announced that the leaders of Kashmir Valley shall take out a procession to the Parliament House tomorrow for the redressal of their demands.
