| Development of backward areas top priority of Govt: Sakina | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 26- Reiterating that gradation of infrastructure in the far-flung and inaccessible areas is top priority of the present Government, Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo today assured the people that the areas neglected in development process during past would be given focused attention for their all round development. Addressing a largely attended public meeting today at Pahloo Noorabad, the Minister affirmed that promises made by the present Government with the people of the State would be fulfilled in due course of time. Sakina said that socio-economic upliftment of weaker sections of the state is the priority of the government and announced that government has declared Pahloo village of Noorabad constituency as a backward village for its all round development. She said that other downtrodden villages of the constituency would be also incorporated in backward category. She said Noorabad constituency has great tourism potential and to fully tap its potential, the scenic spots of the constituency would be brought on tourism map of the State for creating necessary infrastructure, which would ultimately generate employment in the area. The Minister said that the Government has launched various schemes under which financial assistance and incentives are being provided to unemployed educated youth for setting up their ventures rather than hankering after government jobs. Sakina said a massive developmental program has been launched under various sectors across the State, which include providing of better road connectivity, potable drinking water, power facility and providing of higher education besides better healthcare facilities to the people at their doorsteps in every nook and corner of the State. She said that sufficient funds have been kept available for the purpose. Responding to the demands, she said that work on Pahloo- Lanker Tambay road would be started soon. She said that Government has instructed the concerned authorities to prepare the cases of militancy victims for their rehabilitation under National Militancy Victims Benefit Programme well in time so that the Central Government would be requested for releasing funds at the earliest. She assured that all the genuine demands like opening of new educational institutions, Health and Anganwari centres, setting up of J&K Bank branch, establishment of Niabat, augmentation of Water Supply Schemes, construction of protection bunds on the banks of Vishav Nallah in Noorabad constituency would be looked into.
