Transfers, postings for dead, retired in CTD
7/27/2009 12:03:51 AM

CHAMAN KAUL
JAMMU, JULY 26: Ostensibly, it looks dramatic but it is fact that in the office of Commissioner Commercial Taxes Department (CTD) J&K Government, transfers and posting for dead and retired persons are made possible by the officials at the helm of affairs, under which law and rule remains a big question to be answered. The recent order by office of the Commissioner Commercial Taxes Department for posting and transfers vide 126/127 dated July 22nd 2009 speaks the volumes of the seriousness of the officials at the helm of affairs as one Mohammad Junaid at serial 17 of the order circulated has left the department on 31.07.2007 (means dead for department) and joined the higher education department two years back, has been transferred from Circle Rajouri to Circle ‘M’ Jammu. Secondly, Anchal Chand was transferred from Goods Site Jammu to “V & I” Jammu, but the unfortunate has retired on September 30th 2008.
“There were couples of mistakes in master list which have been corrected” said Commissioner Commercial Taxes Bashir Ahmed while replying a query. “Lists were not upto dated which caused clerical error” Ahmed added.
However, whatsoever be the reason or the logic the seriousness about the assignments given to government employees, due to such errors, seems to be negligible. The question arises in an important department which is looked as the back bone of local revenue collection; such minor errors have greater impact upon the society as well as on the employees. Ironically, the state has become habitual of hearing excuses like judgmental errors, clerical errors and technical errors and much more. But one fails to understand that if the future of state is dependable of errors like these, then why government of day is pretending persuasion of perfectionism, development and professionalism.
Virtually, the fate of voter lists, results of academic and technical educations and almost all the government departments which are directly or indirectly related with public find themselves in committing errors for a simple reason that government employees least brother about their responsibilities.
“If a department cannot have list of its employees upto dated then how come people expect the department will deliver for them with accuracy” said Raju Sing and added that not only a single department but almost all the government employees are not serious about their duties and every single employee considers his self a dictator.
