UDHAMPUR, July27- Giving practical shape to the directions of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in providing a responsive administration to the people at their door steps especially in remote areas, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria accompanied by SSP, Surinder Gupta and district officers conducted massive touring of different locations of the tehsil Ramnagar and addressed a number of public Darbars at different distant places,
The public darbars were held at village Kulwanta, Gandh Top, Basantgarh, Kirchi, Dudu, Latti and Maantalai where people in large number hailing from the tough hilly terrains of adjoining areas of these villages, highlighted their problems and developmental demands.
The DDC after giving a patient hearing to their problems and demands said that their genuine issues would be redressed as early as possible. The issues beyond his competence would be taken up with the higher authorities of the departments concerned, he added.
The SSP Udhampur also addressed the gathering at various darbars. He called upon the people to keep a strict vigil on the movement of anti-social elements in their respective areas and inform the police, in case of any doubt, for their assistance. He said Police is always ready to serve the people in maintaining law and order besides curbing crimes and asked the people to cooperate their local police officers for better police-public relations.
The DDC also convened a joint meeting of District, Tehsil and Block level officers at Basantgarh to discuss the strategies to mitigate the problems of the people at grass root level. He directed the officers to be pro-active while solving the public related issues.
The DDC issued on the spot instructions to the officers of CA & PD to display the rate list reflecting APL, BPL, AAY ration quota and rates at their respective ration depots for the information of people. For examining the physically challenged people at Basantgarh area who want to take benefits from Social Welfare Department, a Board of Doctors would be deputed to Basantgarh to scrutinize such cases. The DDC informed that as a part of providing services at door steps, permanent resident certificates and distribution of land compensation is being provided at tehsil level. He further asked the Sub Divisional Magistrate to renew the gun licenses of people of far flung areas and to hold meetings of Tehsil and Block level officers after every two months to review the progress of works under execution in the area and submit the report to him.
