EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, July 27- At least one dozen agricultural technocrats demanding regularization of their jobs were injured in police lathicharge outside the civil secretariat building in Srinagar on day one of the budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly today.
The agriculture technocrats, demanding regularization of jobs, were staging protest demonstrations under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Agricultural Technocrats Association (JKATA) when police authorities ordered cane charge to disperse them.
The injured technocrats were later rushed to the nearby hospital. Those who were critically inured included Amrik Singh, Rajiv Singh Chib, Satpaul Dogra, Balkar Singh, Ishrat Rathore and Majid Aziz
Recently, when new Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir took over charge of the Agriculture ministry in the state he had made it clear that the state government had no vacancy to absorb over 3000 agricultural technocrats working in the department under Rehbar-e-Ziarat scheme introduced in 2007 by Cong-PDP coalition government.
Addressing the protesters outside the state assembly, Dr Surinder Radotra lambasted the State Government for taking a u-turn and creating roadblocks for them without taking any policy decision in consultation with their representatives.
A delegation of the agricultural technocrats had earlier met senior cabinet ministers in the Omar Abdullah government to plead their case and was staging demonstration in Srinagar pleading justice for them.
Moreover, about 41 technocrats were arrested early in the morning and were put behind the bars at Koti Bagh Police till late last night without providing them the water or any edible commodities essential for human health. Humiliated Technocrats who are under lock include General Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Bilal Ahmed, Bisharat Ahmed and Junaid Shah.
