| Husband gets life term for killing his wife | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Samba, July 27- Principal Sessions Judge Samba Suresh Kumar Sharma today awarded life-imprisonment to the then ASI Mohammed Munsi who was then posted police station Janipur Jammu for committing murder of his wife. Principal Sessions Judge, after taking into consideration the circumstances and allegations proved against the accused, observed that the accused who has been convicted is sentenced to life-imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 for the commission of offence u/s 302 RPC. According to the prosecution case the deceased Mousma Bibi died at early morning on May 13, 2002 at her home, at Raya Phallan. Following receipt of information that the deceased died under suspicious circumstances the police took up the investigation and subsequently the body of the deceased was exhumed. Upon post-mortem of the deceased a bullet was found embedded in her skull and her skull had multiple fractures, on this the case for murder was registered. During investigation the story projected by the accused, posted as ASI at P/S Janipur that the deceased had fallen down from the roof top, where she had gone to collect the clothes, was found untrue. It transpired that the accused had illegitimate relations with the sister of the deceased which was not liked by the deceased. On May 11, 2002 the accused had gone with a constable Gulzar to Bani in connection with investigation of a case. He returned on May 12, 2002. While he was returning from Bani, he kept constable Gulzar at Kathua and came to his house at Raya Phallan. The sister of the deceased had also come there. Deceased did not like the relation of the accused with her sister, an altercation ensued. The accused shot dead his wife with his service revolver. He set-up a story that she had fallen from the roof top and died of the injuries received by her, after having shot dead his wife he went to police station Janipur and deposited his service revolver and 9 bullets issued to him. Besides another bullet in place of the bullet fired by him to kill his wife, the accused disclosed during the investigation that during an encounter in 2001 at Bari-Brahamana he had retained a bullet, which he had deposited in place of the bullet by which he had killed the deceased and also disclosed that he had buried the blood stained clothes of the deceased underneath the earth and could get the same recovered. Police after completion of the investigation presented the challan in the Court of law. JNF
