Doctors JAC deputation calls on Chib

SRINAGAR, JULY 27 - A deputation of State Doctors Joint Action Committee ( DJAC) led by Dr. Neeraj Sharma and Dr. Khalid called on Minister for Medical and Technical Education here today.

The deputationists presented a charter of demands to the Minister , which included placement of doctors in pay band 3 as done at the central level. Also one grade pay higher for doctors as recommended by S.L.Bhat Committee. NPA to be paid on basic pay + DA under the newer pay grades.

The Minister gave patient hearing to the demands and assured that he will take up the matter with the Minister for Finance shortly. He said that demands based on merit shall be fulfilled in a phased manner.

The Minister said that the government is aware of the problems being faced by the doctor fraternity and acknowledges their hardwork in extending medicare to the sick even during odd hours.

However, Mr. Chib said that the people have great expectation with the doctors, adding they should continue to work for the well being of masses dedicatedly.
