| SAYSS rejects Deputy CM's proposal on Central University | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 27: Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti, which spearheaded over two-month long agitation over Amarnath land row last year, on Monday rejected proposal of the state government that it will approach the Centre and seek two Central Universities and two Indian Institutes of Management for the state.
"We outrightly reject this proposal mooted by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand at a meeting held recently here with the representatives of various political parties," the spokesperson of SAYSS Dr Narinder Singh said in Jammu.
Our stand is that the central university should be established in Jammu region, as promised by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during a convocation of Jammu University last year, he said.
Singh alleged that the government is misleading the people of Jammu on the issue and it is now finding pretexts to delay the process.
Meanwhile, students continued protest demonstrations at Samba and Jammu University here in support of the demand for setting up of central university in Samba area of Jammu divis
