| BJP members protested frisking of their bags | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 27: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members raised the issue of frisking of their bags by security officials at the main gate of the House. Ashok Kumar Khujuria and other BJP members were on their feet when the House met for the maiden sitting in the newly constructed Assembly complex here, protesting the frisking of their bags by the security officials. ''Our bags are being searched which is an insult to us'', they said. Khujuria alleged Jamat people were not being frisked but we are harassed. A BJP member complained that there was no way to go into the well of the House. However, the Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone said there was no need to storm into the well of the house. Taking a very tough stand on security measures, the Speaker said nobody will be allowed to compromise with the security. Addressing the agitating BJP members, he said, ''you have to cooperate with the security officials for the security of the house.'' ''Why do you want that your bags should not be checked ?'', the Speaker asked them adding whether they had any weakness because of which they did not want their bags to be checked. The Speaker announced that state government had nothing to do with it as security of the House was to be maintained by the Legislative Assembly secretariat. Earlier, Chaman Lal Gupta of the BJP wanted to know why there was no question hour for the first three days. The business list supplied to the members did not mention anything about it. However, the Speaker assured him that there would be a Question Hour everyday during the session.
