7/28/2009 10:59:34 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 28: The delayed panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir will stop the initiation process to infuse new lease of life in grass root level of democratic institutions and deprive the rural masses from becoming stake holders in carrying out developmental activities said president Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Parshad (JKPP) Jugal Kishore Gupta at a meeting held here today. He further said that non holding of elections has not only been depraving people of rural areas of their participation in the developmental progress but also denying more then 250 crore worth grant from the centre for self governance of the rural local bodies, and reminded the coalition govt. of their commitments made to the public to hold panchayat elections to enable them to prepare plans and projects like Indira Awas yozna and NREGS according to their needs.
