Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 28: Taking serious exception to the functioning of coalition Government led by Omar Abduallah, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sought immediate resignation of the Chief Minister.
The demand of Chief Minister’s resignation was made by BJP Legislative Party leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta here today in the wake of the serious allegations levelled against him by the former Deputy Chief Minister and PDP member, Muzzaffar Hussain Beg in State Assembly today.
Prof Gupta, while expressing serious concern over the happenings in the House for last two days said that the way every member stood up to speak what ever he liked to say shows that there is no decorum in the House and it has become a free for all affair. The BJP leader, while taking a dig at the Chief Minister said that state has suffered a lot due to his dismal performance in last seven months and it will be better for him to quit as early as possible to save the people of the state from further problems.
“Omar Abdullah could not prove himself as a good Chief Minister and he has miserably failed to deliver the goods so if he resigns it will be in the larger interests of the state and its people”, Prof Gupta said.
Maintaining that there was no shift in BJP stand on setting up of Central University in Jammu, the BJP leader said that his Party sticks to its earlier stand. He warned the detractors of BJP who are out to launch a malicious campaign against the Party to tarnish its image.
Prof Gupta reiterated that BJP is committed to fight for the rights of nationalist people in the State in general and those of Jammu region in particular. The Party at no point will make any compromise at the cost of peoples interests, he added.
The BJP leader said that his Party in its recently held working Committee meeting has also reaffirmed its resolve to continue the fight for the people of Jammu which is facing constant discrimination for last 60 years.
He said BJP will take the issue of Central University vigorously and the Party has already extended its support to the Sangarsh Samiti and student organizations who are on roads against the Government decision.
He said the BJP, besides the Central University issue will also raise the delimitation, unemployment and ban on inter district recruitments in the State Assembly with full force.
