| Central University Andolan floated | | ‘Decides to intensify its movement’ | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 28-To give new teeth to the on going movement launched for establishment of Central University at Jammu various students’ organizations, have on the initiative of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangrash Samiti, decided to come on a single plate form and constituted a new front called ‘Central University Andolan’ (CUA). The newly constituted front after holding deliberations with the members of various organizations will chalk out their future course of action within a couple of days. The members of all organizations took a solemn pledge to continue the movement under the banner of newly floated “Central University Andolan” and extended all support to it. The core committee will have 17 members from student organizations including Central University Joint Action Committee, ABVP and others while it will have five members of SAYSS and three from Trade, Transport and Bar Association Jammu respectively. CUJAC’s Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu and ABVP’s Suresh Ajay Magotra have been unanimously appointed as secretaries of the “Central University Andolan”. Soon after its formal announcement here this afternoon, the two secretaries demanded immediate establishment of Central University in Jammu where it was earlier sanctioned. They said the new front formed on the initiative of Sangarsh Samiti will only spearhead by Central University Andolan and all the decision would be taken by 17 members only. The Sangarsh Samiti will act like a guiding and supportive force in this movement. They said that the new front will fight decisive movement for central university for Jammu. “We were not against two central universities one in Jammu or another in Kashmir, but we only want that the Central University which had already been sanctioned for Jammu be established first. CUA will only pursue the cause of setting up of central university in Jammu and struggle will continue till the government starts work on establishing university as per the commitment by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pandoo said. In reply to a question that the state government had proposed to union government to allot two Central Universities and two technical institutions in J&K, Mangotra said that we leave it to the state and central authorities to decide, but immediately the central university needs to be set up in earmarked place in Samba district of Jammu division. The CUA said that neither Chief Minister Omar Abdullah nor Minister for Rural development department Ali Mohammad Sagar responded to the students request earlier to have discussion on the issue. It may be recalled that Jammu Justice Movement which too has been spare heading the agitation in Jammu on CU issue has disassociated itself from the new front.
