| Pensioners seek benefit of 6th pay commission; hold protest demonstration | | | Earl Times Report Jammu, July 28-To pressurize the state government to give benefits of 6th pay commission to pensioners, J&K Pensioners Association, Jammu today held protest demonstration here at Rani Park. Led by Govind Ram Sharma Convener of the Association, the pensioners were wearing black badges and raising slogans for implementation of the recommendations of 6th Pay Commissioner in full and removing disparity between the Pre and Post January 1,2006 pensioners. They demanded payment of the arrears of revision of pension on account of the implementation of 6th Pay Commission due from January 1, 2006 in one installment. Govind Ram Sharma said that the pensioners shall not accept the revised pension without application of the provision of 50% of the minimum of the revised pay / band and applicable Grade Pay irrespective of their date of retirement in favour of pre- January 1, 2006 pensioners. Jagdish Dogra, N D Sharma, Ram Lal Sharma, Milkha Singh Slathia and Krishan Gopal advocated that the arrears of 7% DA due from July 1, 2008 till March, 2009 be released in one installment and 6% DA due from January this year be paid without any further delay. They also demanded that the Medical Allowance be enhanced from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 in favour of the State pensioners. The Association also demanded that the provision of Additional Quantum of Pension after attaining the age of 80,85,90, 95,100 years and above @ 20%,30%,40%,50% and 100% respectively be also made applicable in favour of State pensioners on the analogy of Central Government Pensioners. The Association has decided that the struggle of the pensioners shall continue till the demands are accepted and settled once for all.
