| NGO demands probe in shifting of Central University | | | Early Times Report Jammu July 28 Nation’s Pride an NGO has questioned why the camp office for the Central University has been opened in Kashmir when it has been sanctioned for Jammu by the Union HRD Ministry and has demanded independent probe. Chairman of the NGO, Yudhvir Sethi while addressing a press conference at Jammu criticized the state government for its attempts to mislead the people of the state by stating that there should be two universities--one for Jammu and other for Kashmir. He said there are just 14 Central Universities in whole of India and setting up of two universities in a single state is totally impossible and it seems government is misleading the masses of state. Extending support to those who have raised this issue in favour of Jammu, Sethi appealed all the Jammu-based social organizations, mainstream political parties and their leaders from Jammu to rise above their affiliations and work unitedly to ensure that the proposed Central University is not shifted from Jammu to Kashmir. Yudhvir Sethi and other executive members also demanded closure of camp office and holding of an independent inquiry into the appointment of Abdul wahid as Vice-Chancellor of the Central University. He declared that the Nation’s pride team will also visit New Delhi soon to meet the President and the Prime Minister. Meanwhile they urged the Governor N.N. Vohra, to use his constitutional authority and interfere in the matter of establishment of Central University in Jammu which was allotted to Jammu and handle the crises before it takes ugly turn like things turned out of control in the 2008.
