Amarnath Yatra remains suspended

SRINAGAR, JULY 28
Due to inclement weather and slippery condition of the tracks, the Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji remained suspended today and no batch of Yatris was allowed to proceed from Baltal and Pahalgam base camp, said an official spokesperson of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB)
According to a Spokesperson of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, due to inclement weather and slippery condition of the tracks, the Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji remained suspended today and no batch of Yatris was allowed to proceed from the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps to the Sanctum Sanctorum. He further added that the decision to resume the Yatra shall be taken only tomorrow morning i.e. on July 29, 2009 after receipt of the weather forecast from the Meteorological Department.
The Spokesperson, however, stated that another batch of 409 Yatris left Jammu today for the Pahalgam and Baltal Base Camps.
