| Agitation on CU gains momentum | | Students continue to boycott classes, organize protest rally, threaten to intensify stir | | Jammu, July 29- The agitation for establishment of Central University at Jammu without any further delay is gaining momentum with every passing day. Central University Andolan (CUA) an amalgam of several students organizations and supported by the Sangarsh Samiti, today staged protest demonstration against the state government on Central University issue. The protestors burnt the effigy of the government and also blocked the University road for nearly an hour. According to sources CUA members had a meeting with THE President Chamber of Commerce and Industries and other trade bodies to enlist their support in the ongoing movement. The sources said that both these organizations have assured their full support to the CUA. Meanwhile, sources said that the members of CUA will be meeting Bar Association members and Transporters for their support and there is every possibility of a bandh call on Friday. As it needs to be mentioned that few days earlier all Party meeting had held in which more than 200 intellectual and 50 organization/association nominee were present and had gave their full support to CUA. Jammu Justice Movement (JJM) along with the students of various colleges continued their protest and boycotted classes in support of their demand of establishment of Central University in Jammu. Today, the JJM along with the students boycotted the regular class work at GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce, MAM College, GCW Parade, GCW Gandhi Nagar, GGM Science Evening College and MAM Evening College. Later, they took out a death possession (Shav Yatra) from College and reached the SMPR College of Commerce via Canal Road where the students of Commerce College also joined them. They also burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and also raised slogans against administration and ‘Central University Jammu Lao’, ‘Students Union Zindabad’. The protestors demanded that the administration should start work on Central University in Jammu and cancel all the appointments including that of the Vice-Chancellor of Central University in Kashmir. ‘If these demands are not fulfilled the protest will continue and we will intensify our protest’, they added. State Morcha (P) Prof. Virender Gupta, Capt. Anil Gour, Swarn Sharma, Digvijay Singh and Chandra Uday Sharma, demanded that the already sanctioned Central University be immediately opened in Samba district for which the site has already been identified. It also demanded that the temporary office of the Central University presently operating in Kashmir Valley be immediately closed down and its functioning started from Jammu / Samba. The Central Government should be asked to change the present Vice Chancellor and appoint a new VC in his place and any appointment made by the present VC should also be got cancelled. Sangarsh- a students’ organization urged upon the state government to establish the Central University in Jammu without further delay as it causes a huge resentment among the common masses of this region. Addressing media persons, General Secretary of the movement, Suresh Kumar opined the that they have no problem if the state government takes up the issue of two central universities for the state one each for Jammu and one for Kashmir. In that event the Government should also establish IIM or IIIM in Jammu region also.| Suresh pointed that on one side the Jammu based leaders of the Panthers Party are supporting the agitation for Central University for Jammu where on the other side both the patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and the Party President Mehbooba Mufti have kept their mouth shut. He also appealed to all the student organizations and their leaders to be united to fight for the cause with a common zeal. Among others present on the occasion were Ramit Gupta, Poonam Honda, Neeraj Sharma, Nitin Sharma and Nasir Ahmed.
