| Food workers to suspend work from next month | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 29- Criticizing the Government of paying no heed towards implementation of genuine demands, Food and Allied Worker’s Union, decided to suspend the work and to proceed on strike through-out the State from the 1st week of the coming month. Addressing media persons here today, Bishan Dass, president of the union condemned the callous attitude of the Government towards the poor labour class, who have been exploited for the last over more than four decades and have been deprived of the constitutional guarantees. The union leaders flayed the government for not even implementing the judgment passed by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court August 25, 2005. The workers are demanding revision of bag rates; minimum wage guarantee as per the Price Index from 1997 onwards on the pattern of FCI along with arrears, inclusion of labourers working in Muffassil Depots for the last over 20 years under Minimum Guarantee Wage Scheme, implementation of Provident Fund Scheme for labourers retrospectively and bringing the laborers under the protection of Provident Fund Act and Grant of benefits under the provision of Gratuity Act and Workmen Compensation Act.
