| Simran Tour Operators demand police protection | | | Early Times Report Jammu July 29- The partner proprietors of Simran Tours and Travels, Mangal Market, Railway Station Jammu have alleged their continuous harassment at the hands of members of the Tourist Taxi Federation Railway Station Jammu. Addressing a media conference here today Babblu Mahajan and Sarabjit Singh partners of the travel agency stated that while they have been doing a genuine business of tour and travels, operating from their office at a much distance from the centre of tourist taxi operators at Railway Station Jammu, the latter are unduly placing obstacles in discharge of their professional duty, by removing their hoardings and even creating rowdyism outside their office. Some musclemen among the taxi operators are invariably hijacking and roughing up their customers, who avail of their services. Even on occasions their vehicles have been forcibly taken away by the members of Tourist Taxi Federation, who even beat up the drivers. Mahajan told that although an FIR against the accused persons has been lodged by them in the police station Trikuta Nagar, under the jurisdiction of which Railway Station falls, but no action against the culprits has been taken by the police so far. He demanded police protection against the harassment and excesses committed by some anti social elements among the taxi operators against them and also taking of stern action against the culprits.
