| NC workers sit on hunger strike | | Gupta demands public apology from Beig | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 29: Over 200 political activists and senior leader of National Conference today sat on one day hunger strike at Shaheedi Chowk, demanding stern action against PDP, MLA, Muzaffar Hussain Beig on making false allegation against the chief minister Omar Abdullah. Addressing the protesters, NC provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta said Muzaffar Beig out of utter frustration made baseless remarks against a man of ethics, but has been caught in a wrong foot. Gupta demanded stern action against the MLA for not only misleading the house but trying to create law and order problem in the state. He demanded arrest of Muzaffar Hussain Beig and initiates criminal action against him and demanded a public apology from the PDP, MLA. Rattan Lal Gupta said Omar Abdullah has made history by resigning from the chief ministership, showing great amount of statesmanship. He has proved that to him it is honour and self respect which is dearer to him. Party activists also burnt the effigy of Beig during the protest. Those who participated in the hunger strike include Brij Mohan Sharma, Vijay Laxmi Dutta, Thakur Kashmira Singh, Bushal Lal Bhat, Jugal Mahajan, Dharam Vir Singh, Chander Mohan Sharma, Surinder Singh, K.D. Singh, Sham Mehra, Pardeep Bali, Chinow Mishra and others.
