Who are Shabir and Reyaz?

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 29: Whenever a controversy breaks out bringing National Conference Congress government at loggerheads with public, Hurriyat or the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, a mysterious ‘Public Relations’ mechanism suddenly comes into fore with quite juicy information hard for any editor to blackout but the person at the other end is always “invisible” and “unidentifiable”.
When television screens on Wednesday beamed the scenes from Legislative Assembly showing Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone forwarding a questionnaire to former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, which the latter tore apart, the journalist fraternity started keenly looking forward to an email from Reyaz Ahmed or Shabir Ahmed. Looking at the kind of information they provided to media outlets over past few moths, it was widely expected that either of the two has list of questions which made Baig blush and pushed the House in bedlam.
This may not be in knowledge of the readers but the media in Jammu and Kashmir has a unique mechanism of receiving loads of information from different sources every day. The most preferred way of reaching out to a large number of journalists across state and outside is to use the email contact list used by Directorate of Information for disseminating official press releases to the media outlets.
The Directorate of Information does most of the political work for the government and the ruling parties in literally building bridges where there are no waters. But when issued touch the extremes and becomes unsafe to go fully political, then comes the role of Reyaz Ahmed and Shabir Ahmed. It is not known to anyone who they are but a look at few of their press releases received by the media in recent past can suggest who they work for. Their art of story telling and the PR is excellent, indeed!
