| Deepali Wattal Mesmerizes Kashmiri Diaspora in USA | | |
New York, July 30- Renowned singer of the state Deepali Watal has been performing in various states across the United States like Houston, Grand Rapids and Chicago and was a special guest at the recently concluded annual event, the 26th National Kashmir Overseas Association (KOA) East Coast Camp held in Corinth, New York from July 2 to July 5.
KOA, an organization of Kashmiri Diaspora has been working hard for the promotion and propagation of the Kashmiri culture in United States of America and other North American countries like Canada
More than a hundred families got to witness Deepali’s maiden visit to the States where she enthralled the audience with her melodious renditions. The richness of the Kashmiri lyrics along with her very penetrating voice created a nostalgic aura, an aura that the Kashmiri Pandits were longing for.
“The performance was very reminiscent of not only what has been lost over time but more importantly what we all strive towards as regards our cultural preservation. Deepali by any account gave us a glimpse of her range and variation and demonstrated her talent and proved to the attendees that truly a new star has progressed and is undisputedly on a path worthy of international recognition amongst the Kashmiri Diaspora”., remarked some of the Kashmiri families living in the united States since last so many years.
“Her personal touch coupled with her musical skills have touched many hearts and hastened others to invite her for other concerts in major metropolitans of America. She has performed at few of these concerts and others are scheduled over the next several weeks. In this very short period of time, Deepali has become very popular and a household name in the Kashmiri Pandit community of North America”, says Pradumon Tickoo, president of the KOA
The singer has the distinction of performing in other European countries like Germany and England as well besides providing the play back voice to more than 1000 songs in languages like Kashmiri, Urdu, English, Pahari, Dogri, Bhaderwahi and Himachali as well.
