| JKNPP reiterates demand of separate assembly for Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 30 Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party has demanded reorganization of the state to satisfy the aspiration of the people of all regions of the state especially Jammu region and suggested a separate assembly for Jammu region to address to the problems of Jammu region. Addressing a press conference here today, NPP state president and MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia said, “Reorganization of the state has become imperative as people of Jammu feel that Kashmir centric political parties have no regard for the aspirations of Jammu people.’ He said that during assembly sessions in Jammu as well as Kashmir, the Kashmir centric parties like Congress, NC and PDP are raising non-issues like Self rule, Autonomy, troop reduction etc. while the more important issues concerning people’s welfare are lost in the din. Referring to the recent political chaos ‘the war between NC and PDP’ Mankotia said that the drama which has unfolded during past three days in the assembly has amply justified the demand of Panthers Party for reorganization of the state and a separate assembly for Jammu region. ‘While the students and people of Jammu region are protesting on road against the shifting of Central University to Kashmir from Jammu, the farmers are suffering huge losses on account of poor crops and drought, unemployed youth are protesting for demands, but the Kashmiri politicians are indulging in mud slinging and raising non-issues in the assembly, he underlined. He said that Panthers Party raised the issue of Central University and separate Jammu assembly forcefully in the assembly and would not rest till the demands are accepted. NPP state president Balwant Singh Mankotia said that the recent drama over sex scandal accusations in the legislative assembly speaks volumes about the non-seriousness of the powers that in handling the state affairs. He said that if chief minister wanted to take a high moral ground, the (CM) should have not allowed the entry of such elements in the state cabinet especially those facing serious charges of corruption, moral as well as financial. He said that Congress should also follow suit and ask its tainted ministers to put in papers.
