Early Times Report Jammu, July 30: The J&K polythene manufacturers and traders association has offered its assistance and cooperation to Jammu Municipal Corporation in implementing door to door garbage collection scheme in the city of Jammu. Welcoming the more of JMC to re-launch door to door garbage collection scheme against payment of rs 50 per house per month, a spokesman of J&K polythene manufacturers, Pawan Kumar Shastri said that their association had been pleading with the JMC to launch such a scheme in which they would render all help and assistance to the corporation to make the scheme a success. As per press release association had even offered to launch such a scheme on their own, if the JMC permits them and provides its corporation and assistance. He further said that in case the scheme in this behalf launched two years ago, but stopped after one month, had succeeded the need for banning the plastic carry bags would have not arisen. Shastri further invoked the statement of union minister for environment and forest, Jai Ram in the parliament that some states are banning plastic bags because their municipal bodies have failed to fulfill their part of the obligations of garbages collection and its scientific disposal. They would create public awareness and come forward to enlist their cooperation and support for the successful implementation of the scheme which will rid the city of the problem of environmental pollution to a great extent. He recalled that their association hadover three years ago observed a garbage disposal awareness fortnight, which was inaugurated by the then minister for housing, urban development and local bodies Ghulam Hassan Mir.
