PDP, NC workers clash in Jammu

Jammu, July 30: In a display of their loyalties with their bosses, scores of National Conference activists today swooped down on the Jammu headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party leading to a clash with the Gandhi Nagar police in which at least one ruling party activist was injured.
Meanwhile, the PDP activists also hit the streets and blocked National Highway for a while in a protest against National Conference. Effigies of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti were set ablaze by warring activists of both parties.
Large number of workers of National Conference in Jammu were hurt in police lathicharge outside the office of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) where they staged protest demonstration against the PDP top brass and demanded strong action against the former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh for linking Omar Abdullah with the infamous Srinagar sex scam.
Led by Jammu based leaders of the National Conference large number of party workers first assembled near the office of the PDP in Gandhi Nagar and after burning the effigy of PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti and shouting slogans against the PDP leaders few NC workers made an attempt to go near the PDP office with a motive to attack it.
The police force present on the occasion an prevented the situation to go out of hands by opening mild lathi charge on the NC workers. Angry NC workers then moved towards National highway and blocked the traffic for quite some time.
Meanwhile, agitated over attack on their party office National Conference goons, leaders and activists of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also staged a massive demonstration and blocked vehicular movement at Jammu-Pathankote national highway.
Shouting slogans against National Conference and Omar Abdullah for his involvement in infamous Srinagar sex scandal, PDP activists regretted that instead of accepting the realities, NC workers have been indulged into vandalism. PDP leaders gave strict warning to the NC leaders that they will not tolerate such actions of the goons hired by the ruling party to terrorize the opposition.
PDP leaders repeatedly shouted Mujrim Number 102 Hazir Karo Hazir Karo. PDP leaders while taking exception of attack on their office warned that they will effectively retaliate to the misdeeds of the ruling party. They also asked the administration to control the unscrupulous elements hired by the ruling National Conference to hide their misdeeds by terrorize the opposition.
Former Rajya Sabha member Trilok Singh Bajwa, Ved Mahajan, Thakur Balbir Singh, Manjit Singh, Daman Bhasin, Shanti Devi, Baldev Singh Slathia, A K Sawhney, Falail Singh, R K Bali, Mumtaz Kousar, Ashiq Hussain Khan, Choudhary Chuni Lal, Chander Slathia, Jagjit Singh Jagga, Shohiab Malik and others addressed the agitating workers.
