| KVK organizes farmers training program | | | Early Times Report Kathua, July 31- Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathua organized farmer’s training on “Scientific Techniques of Pulses and Oilseed Cultivation” at village Chainpura which was attended by over 35 farmers including farmwomen. Dr Amrish Vaid Programme Coordinator KVK while highlighting the importance of farmer’s training program and FLDs in promotion of oilseed and pulse cultivation emphasized upon the farmers for adoption of scientific techniques for better production aand productivity. He also stressed upon seed treatment in management of soil and seed borne pathogens. Dr.Berjesh Ajrawat, SMS (Extension Education) narrated various constraints prevailing in the pulses and oilseed production which can be overcome only by adopting scientific ways in cultivation. Dr. Rajeev Bharat, SMS (Agronomy) gave a detailed package of practice for pulse and oilseed cultivation with special emphasis on mash and sesames. Dr. Vivak Manohar Arya, SMS ( Soils) highlighted the importance of soil fertility and emphasized upon the farmer’s to go for Integrated Nutrient Management to improve the soil health and increase the sustainability of the area. He apprised the farmers about the judicious use of fertilizers which will ultimately decrease the cost of production. Dr. Anamika Jamwal discussed with farmers about the various insects-pest and diseases of pulses and oilseed crops and advised the farmers to adopt integrated pest management strategies. The Scientists also visited farmer’s fields and attended their problems and suggested remedial measures.
