New Delhi, Aug 3 : Over 11,000 posts were lying vacant in various departments of Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR), the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting C M Jatua said in a written reply that the highest number of vacancies were in the engineering wing. In the AIR, 1,284 of these posts were vacant while DD was short of 2,714 people.
In the programming section too, the number of vacancies was high.
In AIR 3,010 posts in the wing were awaiting fulfilment, while in DD, 736 in this wing were to be filled. In the News wing, the AIR was lacking 55 people while the DD in the same wing required 39 people, Mr Jatua said.
A total of 7,277 posts were lying vacant in AIR and 4,221 in DD, he said.
