| LPG to be delivered home, new petrol pumps to come up in Rajouri | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, AUGUST 3 - Stressing on improving the accessibility of petroleum products and foodgrains in far-flung and hilly districts of the state, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Qamar Ali Akhnoon has directed to ensure that the supplies reach in the far-flung and snow bound areas in time so that people do not face any shortage of essentials. The Minister was speaking at a meeting of officers of Oil Companies and FCI convened to streamline the distribution of LPG and other petroleum products in the state, here last evening. He called upon the officers to follow the guidelines laid for distribution of LPG in letter and spirit, adding that 100 percent home delivery of LPG cylinders should be ensured to facilitate the consumers. Minister of State for CA&PD Shabir Ahmad Khan, Secretary CA&PD, Mr. K. B. Jandial, Director CA&PD, Hemant Sharma, General Manager, Food Corporation of India, Mr. F. A. Khan, State Level Coordinator (SLC), Oil Companies of J&K, Vikas Bahl, representatives of oil companies and officers of CA&PD and Legal Metrology were also present in the meeting. Mr. Khan, speaking at a meeting called for setting up new petrol pumps enroute Thanamandi, Manjakote, Budhal and Nowshera. He said that people traveling on long distance routes in hilly areas face lot o inconvenience due to absence of petrol pumps. He said that since the hilly areas face lot of problems due to scarcity of foodgrains, K.oil and other essentials, the department should make an early start for stocking the essential supplies in these areas.
