Hiranagar people complain of slow development

KATHUA, AUGUST 03 - Member Parliament Doda-Udhampur Constituency Ch. Lal Singh held a public durbar to listen to the grievances of public at his residence here at Kathua..
Minister for Roads and Buildings G.M. Saroori and Ex. MLA Basohli Ms. Kanta Andotra were also present in the meeting.
Public representatives from various villages and wards and a large number of people attended the meeting.
The public representative from various villages raised the demands like hike in the wages of labourer under NREGA and delay in the payment for works executed under NREGA scheme.
The people of Hiranagar complained about the slow pace of execution of development works. The representatives of village Jarai and Kardoh complained about the poor water supply. The people of Labana community appealed Ch. Lal Singh that their community should be given reservation under OBC category at the Centre as the state government has included Labana community in OBC category.
The public representative from Kathua, Basohli, Bani, Billawar and Hiranagar appealed to Mr. Singh to take up the issue of establishment of Central University at Jammu with Prime Minister and HRD Ministry. The people of Kandi areas demanded compensation to the farmers for failed of mango crop.
Ch. Lal Singh said that due to delay in monsoons, crop germination had suffered resulting in decline in crop yield. He assured that he will take up the issue of crop failure with the centre government.
Mr. G.M. Saroori, interacting with the villagers, asked Ch. Lal Singh to send him the proposal for taking up different roads and other development works. He said that there is shortage of ration in the state and to overcome this shortage, funds have been provided to CA&PD, adding that government is committed to the welfare of public. Regarding the demand of enhancement of wages under NREGA scheme, he said that the matter will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
