| Manohar convenes first meeting in home district | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, AUGUST 03 - Minister of State for Cooperatives, Finance and Higher Education, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma today convened a meeting to take stock of various activities in the district.
MLC Mr. Subash Gupta also accompanied the Minister.
District Development Commissioner Kathua Ms. Mandeep Kaur , Director Colleges Mr. N.D. Wani, Director Agriculture Mr. Vinod Bala Sharma, Chief Engineer RTIC Mr. B.R. Dogra, SE hydraulic, SE PWD, SSP Mr. Garib Dass, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua Mr. D.R. Sharma. All district heads of different departments attended in the meeting.
Ms. Mandeep Kaur welcomed the Minister and briefed him about various developmental activities in the district.
She apprised the minister that District annual plan for the year, 2008-09 of district Kathua was initially approved with an outlay of Rs. 4417.47 lakhs which was revised to Rs. 4156.52 lakhs. Out of the total plan, the revenue component was Rs. 704.22 lakhs and Rs. 3453.30 lakhs was the capital component including loan of Rs. 1847.86 lakhs and additioanlity of Rs. 125.00 lakhs. The expenditure ending March, 2009 was of the order of Rs. 3887.51 lakhs (93.51% of the revised out lay).
Ms. Mandeep Kaur further apprised that two prestigious toll plaza projects have been approved by the government in Kathua district, one at Nagri and other at Lakhanpur. The work of toll plaza at Nagri has been under taken by PWD at an estimated cost of Rs. 8.85 crores against which Rs. 2.97 crores have been released and full amount stands utilized.
The proposal for upgradation of road from Nagri toll plaza to Palli more measuring 9.55 Kms has been prepared by PMGSY for which amount of Rs. 11.93 crores stands sanctioned.
JKPCC has undertaken many projects in District Kathua which include bridge over Bhag Nallah with an estimated cost of Rs. 1191.30 lakhs, Bridge over Bhini Nallah at Lodnoo which stands inaugurated by Hon’ble CM, District hospital building, ISM building, fire station at Kathua and toll plaza at lakhanpur is under execution at estimated cost of Rs. 2306.79 lakhs.
While reviewing the status of Government Degree Colleges at District Kathua Director Colleges Mr. N.D. wani apprised the minister that there are 5 degree Colleges in district Kathua. The minister was apprised that the building of GDC Basohli has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs. 381.13 lakhs against which Rs. 258.50 lakhs stands incurred.
