New Delhi, Aug 3: The country has a total of 16,626 colleges and 483 universities, the government said Monday.
"The number of universities and university-level institutions as on July 15 is 483, and of the nearly 20,000 colleges, data is available for 16,626 and the number of aided colleges among them is 8,443," Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari said.
NAAC: A total of 4,802 higher educational institutions have the accreditation of National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
