Jammu, Aug 3: In typical Bollywood inspired Gandhigiri style Central University Andolan Samiti is going to observe August 5 as Sankalp Diwas which, among other activities, includes the girl students along with Civil Society members and CUAS members tying rakhis to all the police officials in all the police stations of Jammu Province.
A CUAS activist said that the message of celebrating this style of Raksha Bandhan is that whenever there is student agitation, students have to sacrifice have to sacrifice the most. “So we appeal to all the police officials to not to use brutal force against the students if that will be used there will also be equal reaction from the student’s side”, he said.
Meanwhile, in response to the call of CUAS to observe ‘Virodh Diwas’ today for setting up a Central university in Jammu division, the students of different colleges of Jammu province held various protest demonstrations and boycott their classes
Students of MAM College boycotted their classes and held protest demonstration and torched the effigy of Chief Minister under the leadership of Varinder Singh and Naseeb Ali. They also raised anti-government slogans during the protest demonstration demanded immediate establishment of Central University in Jammu.
The reports said that similar protest demonstrations were held in GGM Science College at canal road and Commerce College
However, Students of Women College Parade also boycotted their classes today and held protest demonstrations demanding establishment of a Central university in Samba district of the division. The protest was held under the leadership of Preeti Choudhary, Varsha Gupta and Suhasani, members, CUAS
In order to show their anger against State Government over this issue, the girls students amidst sloganeering sat on busiest Road at Parade, thus bringing the vehicular movement to a standstill for around half an hour.
The reports revealed that students dispersed later after shouting anti-government slogans and demanding setting up of Central University in Jammu.
Not only the student of different colleges of Jammu, the activists of State BJP which has fully supported the spearheading group Central University Andolan Samiti (CUAS) also held protest demonstrations and torched effigies of State Government at various places including Panjtirthi, Kacchi Chawani, City Chowk, Janipur etc.
Protest demonstrations over shifting of Central University ‘intensified’ today as spearheading group Central University Andolan Samiti (CUAS) finally announced its programme by observing “Virodh Diwas” today in entire Jammu Province.
At Udhampur, the students of degrees college Udhampur, Boys and girls Higher secondary schools held a protest rally in respond to the call of CUAS. The protesting under the leadership Kuldeep Singh, Sunny Mahajan also torched the effigy of state government.
