Early Times Report JAMMU, AUGUST 04 - The Tourism department today organized a felicitation function at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu where officers of various departments were felicitated for rendering their excellent services to the visiting Amarnath yatris and contributing in the smooth conduct of one and half month long Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2009. On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kotwal said that all the departments had made adequate arrangements at the Yatri Niwas for the comfortable stay of the pilgrims. He said that Yatri Niwas which opened last year to provide single roof facilities to pilgrims had proved a boon for the Amrnath yatris hailing from different parts of the country. Dr. Kotwal said that various social organizations had arranged free langers for the visiting Amarnath yatis, adding that during the yatra period hoteliers and dhabawalas had also provided discounts to yatris in boarding and lodging facilities. He said that the yatra this year was completely incident free and peaceful and congratulated the people of the state for making the yatra successful through their active cooperation. Certificates were distributed to heads of Police, SRTC, Health, JMC, PHE, PDD, R&B, Communication, J&K Bank, Information department besides, local press and media persons for providing best services to the pilgrims during the yatra period. IGP, Jammu, Mr. Ashok Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. T. Angchuk, Director Tourism, Jammu Mr. S.M. Sahni, President Hotel and Restaurant Association Jammu, Mr. Kuldeep Wahi, Commissioner, JMC, Mr. Mubarak Singh, Deputy Director Information (PR), Mr. Ashwani Khajuria and other senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
