Governor, CM greet people on Raksha Bandhan

Srinagar, Aug 04- The Governor, N. N. Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have felicitated the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
In a message of greetings, the Governor said that the festival is a unique and distinctive feature of India’s cultural ethos, symbolizing the special bonds between brothers and sisters. He said that Raksha Bandhan has an added significance in the State as on this day the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra comes to an end and devotees in large numbers pay obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine on Shravana Purnima.
The Governor hoped that this festival would usher a new era of peace, progress and prosperity and further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, amity and harmony in the State.
In his message the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that the day denotes the unlimited love between brothers and sisters depicting rich cultural ethos and heritage of the country. He said this day in Jammu and Kashmir has special significance as the Shri Amarnathji Yatra concludes on this day and large numbers of yatris visit the holy cave for darshan.
Chief Minister while extending his felicitations has also prayed for the well being of the people and progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a greeting message, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the festival is a unique and distinctive feature of India’s cultural ethos, symbolizing the special bonds between brothers and sisters .He hoped that this festival would usher a new era of peace, progress and prosperity and further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, amity and harmony in the State.
In the meantime several ministers including, Minister for Agriculture G .H Mir, Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla, Industries Minister S S Salathi, Health Minister, Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed and Minister for Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon have also greeted the people on Raksha Bandan.
