Humming buds, the pre-school of MIER also joined the festivities at their respective branches. The School organized a ‘Rakhi Making’ and ‘Kite flying’ competition on the occasion. All the students including humming buds participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. All the boys took part in flying kites of different colours & designs and girls were busy in making beautiful decorated Rakhi’s to be presented to their brothers. The students showed their skills to make the best rakhi using various waste materials and the judges selected three best Rakhi’s out of all. The three students namely Sara Mahajan of class 1st, Apurva Gupta of class 6th and Komal and Gurpreet of class 7th were awarded with prizes for the best rakhis. The best rakhis were then displayed on the school notice board
Dr. Renu Gupta in her message to the students said that the frail rakhi thread is considered stronger than iron chains in India as it binds brothers and sisters in a bond of everlasting trust and love. She appealed to the students to maintain universal brotherhood, peace and harmony. The Principal, Rupa Gupta in her greetings to the children on the occasion said that the festival stands out as a unique gift of Indian culture and tradition. She said, ‘Raksha’ is the word for protection and ‘Bandhan’ is the bond, so it signifies the bond of protection and undying love between siblings. Vice Principal, Usha Gadoo also greeted the students on the occasion.
