| Talk to Taliban to stop Al-Qaida's forward movements: Farooq | | | Srinagar, September 8: Former Chief Minister and National Conference Chief Patron Dr Farooq Abdullah here on Friday called upon Central Government to initiate dialogue with Taliban for closing the road to Alqaida. Addressing a fateh ceremony on the eve of death anniversary of National Conference founder late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah, Dr Abdullah said " I appeal Central Government to initiate dialogue with Taliban as has been done by Pakistan Government in Waziristan to close road for Alqaida". Claiming that America supported Pakistan-Taliban talks, he said that India should take into confidence Taliban for its own advantage as has been done as is the case with America.
Calling upon Indo-Pak leadership to think about gains and losses of their sovereign states, Dr Abdullah said that deadlock in Indo-Pak dialogue process suit those who are opposed to peace in Indian Sub-continent. Impressing upon National Conference worker to ghear up for assembly elections scheduled to be held after two years from now, he said that party should field candidates who believe in serving the people.
Though he called upon people to beg for forgiveness during forthcoming holly month of Ramadhan in view of last years killer quake and recent devastating floods, but said " When I go for fasting, I suffer from severe ailments". He also called upon this years Haj pilgrims to pray for lasting peace in the state during Haj pilgrimage. |
